Meuser Falls in Penn GOP Primary
While national attention focused on the Obama/Clinton battle in Pennsylvania this week, industry advocates in the keystone state kept an eye on the Congressional race between Dan Meuser and Chris Hackett. As reported Wednesday in Politico.com, businessman Hackett ultimately defeated Meuser, president of Pride Mobility, in the 10th District GOP primary. Meuser, who announced his candidacy at last year’s Medtrade show in Orlando, lost with 45% of the vote to Hackett’s 55% (with 98% of precincts reporting). Hackett will face incumbent Rep Chris Carney (D-Pa) in the main contest this Fall.
Meuser joined Pride Mobility Products Corp 20 years ago, and has worked with government officials such as Sen Arlen Specter (R-Pa), former Sen Rick Santorum (R-Pa), and Secretary of Health and Human Services Michael Leavitt. Within the HME industry, Meuser has served on the Board of the National Coalition for Assistive and Rehab Technology (NCART) and is a board member of the American Association for Homecare. There is no word yet as to Meuser’s next move and/or future plans. Familiar HME friend Rep Jason Altmire (D-Pa) was not involved in this Pennsylvania primary election.
